This is a project my mother, Christel Bucksch,
supports very actively and I am proud of her success!
The Kamuthanga Settlement Training Centre is a sewing school in
Kenya that was originally founded by the women of the Kenian Villiage
Kamuthanga to provide information on AIDS, birth control and drug
abuse. Eventually the school started a program that provides young
girls with an education in sewing. The goal is to enable poor
women or girls that became pregnant too early to support their
families.
Dr. Ruth Mwangangi-Gerlach was born in this
villiage and now lives in Germany. She and her friend Christel
Bucksch with her daughter Barbara Lange not only support this school financially, they also visit
the school on their own expenses to teach and deliver donations.
This villiage has neither electricity nor running water, but it
does have hope. The following pictures were taken August 2007, when Barbara Lange and Dr. Ruth Mwangangi-Gerlach taught a patchwork class there.
